Subject: Wojtek

Dear
I have come across your name on the several occasions I have been reading about Wojtek. I write purely because of my interest in Wojtek and would like to discuss this subject with you.

Very briefly, I am English but live in Warsaw with my Polish wife. I have several businesses in Poland but still maintain a house in London (my birth place). My business partner, Simon Hinkly, is a film producer who has worked in the film industry as assitant director/producer for many years.

OK, to the point. We are interested to develop the story of Wojtek into a film. I have a good number of contacts in Poland, as you may imagine. Simon has the same in the UK within the film industry. I would like to share information with you about Wojtek; to hear first hand from people who had direct/indirect contact with the men with whom Wojtek 'served'.

I realise you are most interested to hear from people who knew and/or served with your father but, perhaps, we may make contact and open up a dialogue to explore events, stories, etc that took place during the period of the war and after when your father and his comrades served and fought the good cause.

If you are interested to explore this subject please send me an email to the this address with your contact details, phone number and I will call you. My phone number in Poland is +48 600 021 860.
Many thanks, and I await your email.
Regards
Leslie Sheldon

Subject: Voytek
Hi,
I saw the photos on Voytek on your webpage. Three of the photos show my father, Dymitr Szawlugo. He is the unidentified man standing with Jan Modzelewski at the bottom of the webpage. He is also on the photos showing him playing with the bear as if they are boxing and the other one with my father holding Voytek's nose high.
Cheers
Andy Traverse (Szawlugo)

Hi, i was just wondering if there would be any record of Corporal Jan Stec.
He served with the Polish and British Armies. He was in North Africa and
fought during the Battle Of Monte Cassino. If so, can you please notify me?
