A tribute to Jan Modzelewski by his daughter Yasmin.Whose father also served in the 5th Division(passed away 16 April 1999).

Jan Modzelewski, is in the middle. The back of the photo says this picture was taken upon the Polish Jas4ColArmy's arrival in Pahlev, Persia (now Iran) in the September of 1942, . The other two soldiers are listed as"Kucejka (?)" and "Ignasiak Miarkowski". The Polish soldiers received their outfits from the Australians.

Jan Modzelewski's was imprisoned by the Germans in 1939, he escaped and was then was arrested by the Soviets and deported to Arkangelski in the Soviet Union. After his release from the Soviet Union in 1942 he joined Anders' Army when he was 28 years old. Jan is pictured in the middle.

This official documentation belonged to the II Corps, 5th Division.below shows his documentation from Monte Cassino.
